This summer we will take you on a trip up the Alaska coast onboard the Coast Guard ship the Polar Star! We will use wide-range Internet technologies like RealAudio, RealMedia and QuestChat to take you along with us. activities.

  • The Polar Star Online: Meet the people on board the Polar Star. You will learn first-hand what it is like to live and work aboard this special Coast Guard ice-breaker.
    • Meet The Captain of the Polar Star
    • Meet an Senior female officer of the Polar Star Ensign Sharp

  • The Places and People of Alaska: During our trip we will visit with towns and villages located along the Alaskan coast. We will meet and talk with these Alaskans about special environmental concerns in their region. You will also be able to read field journals from our two high school students travelling onboard the Polar Star. Currently we plan to visit:
    • Kodiak, Alaska
    • Nome, Alaska
    • Sheba Ice Station
    • Pt. Barrow Alaska

  • The Jeremy Project: Later in our trip we will be joined by two NASA scientists that will be your guides as we visit some amazing landmarks in the Arctic Circle:
