Enriqueta C. Bond, PhD
Dr. Bond is President of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, an independent private foundation dedicated to advancing the medical sciences by supporting research and other scientific and educational activities. Prior to being named President in 1994, Dr. Bond served on the staff of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) since 1979, becoming the Institute's Executive Officer in 1989.
Dr. Bond is a member of the IOM, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society for Microbiology, and the American Public Health Association. She chairs the Academies' Board on Capacity Development of African Academies of Science and serves on the Report Review Committee for the Academies. She serves on the board and executive committee of the Research Triangle Park Foundation, on the board of the National Institute for Statistical Sciences, on the board of the Northeast Biodefense Center and the New England Center of Excellence in Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases, and on the council of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
