And so, my fellow Americans: Ask
not what your country can do for you ask what you can do
for your country.
John F. Kennedy, Inaugural address, 20 Jan. 1961
Many people assume that my twenty-something generation is selfish,
or just apathetic towards issues that don't concern our immediate
surroundings. I disagree with this assumption, and now I have some
proof. I've just met some of my fellow David L. Boren Scholarship
recipients for the coming school year, and I found a group distinguished
by their global focus and commitment to service.
Looking at my global classmates, it was refreshing to notice the
same magic twinkle of risk-taking ambition in their eyes, and the
confident vision they had of making a difference in the world.
