Report Vandalism and Crime
BPA spends a lot of time and money repairing vandalized transmission lines and towers. Vandalizing BPA property is a crime. If you
see vandalism, please report it by calling 1-800-437-2744.
What's a Crime?
- Shooting at insulators, power lines, transmission towers or substation equipment
- Dumping of any waste or material on BPA property
- Vandalism to BPA property, buildings and vehicles
- Theft of BPA equipment, supplies, tools or materials
- Harm to BPA personnel
Being a Crime Witness
Anyone who sees or suspects crime to the BPA transmission system or property can be a CRIME WITNESS by calling toll-free 1-800-437-2744
or by completing the crime witness form. The toll-free
CRIME WITNESS hotline is confidential. Hotline personnel will ask questions about the reported crime, this information will be
used in pursuing an investigation with local law enforcement agencies.
You can help put a stop to crime. Theft and vandalism cost BPA's rate payers (you) $500,000 to $1 million each year. These figures
represent only the direct dollar costs to BPA of replacing stolen or damaged equipment. Over and above these costs are lost revenues
and the economic losses to electricity consumers due to power interruptions. If you see a crime report it.
Reward
Cash rewards of up to $25,000 will be paid to CRIME WITNESS informants providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of
persons committing the crime. Rewards are issued in such a way that the caller's identity remains confidential.
