Southland
Air Toxics Study Shows Overall Decrease in
Cancer Risk
A multi-year study on toxic air pollution in the Southland shows
an overall 8 percent decrease in cancer risk from air pollution
but increases in some areas of the region.

Strengthens Rules for Natural Gas-Fired Boilers and Heaters
AQMD has recently approved two measures that will require thousands of
natural gas-fired boilers, steam generators and heaters operated
by schools, hospitals, and industrial and commercial facilities
throughout the region to meet more stringent emission limits.

Leaf Blower Exchange Another Sell-Out
Professional gardeners did their part for clean air this summer
by exchanging 1,500 older, dirtier leaf blowers for new,
low-polluting and low-noise models, at ten events held across
the Southland, helping to reduce 14 tons per year of
smog-forming pollution.

Technology Conference to be held in Long Beach Sept. 14-16

Pollution Control Officers Association will be held at the Long
