Student Volunteer Program (SVP)

General

  • Gain exposure to fields such as physical science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and administration
  • Formal agreement is signed between student, school, and NIST
  • Non-paid

Who Qualifies?

  • Must be enrolled at least half-time in school.
  • All students under the age of 18 years must have valid and signed State of Maryland work permit.

Submit application for NIST review.  You will be contacted if being considered for volunteer service.

Student Service Learning

Students in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) must complete a number of hours of student service learning (SSL) before graduation.  The Volunteer Center works in partnership with MCPS and maintains the database of volunteer activities that have been approved for SSL hours.  For more information, visit Student Service Learning at http://mcps.k12.md.us/ then select Students, then select Student Service Learning.  Please note that the on-line application does not apply to the Student Service Learning.
