Planning activity at BART

Strategic and Policy Planning centers around the District's Strategic Plan which contains policies and programs designed to achieve results in seven key agency focus areas.

Station Area Planning promotes the building of transit-oriented development in and around BART stations, along with station access and station capacity improvements. These are all achieved through partnerships with local communities.

System Expansion Planning examines potential extensions or new “in-fill” stations that expand the BART system. These projects are developed in partnership with the communities served.

BART Planning Staff

The BART Planning Department is committed to improving the BART system in new and innovative ways, through the creation of partnerships with the communities BART serves.  Its key focus areas include policy development, system expansion, station improvements, and land use/quality of life.
