Jeffrey Risinger Designated Acting Executive Director

Washington, D.C., June 5, 2006 - Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox today announced the selection of Jeffrey Risinger as the agency's Acting Executive Director. Mr. Risinger replaces Jim McConnell, who retired from the agency Friday following 20 years of SEC service.

Mr. Risinger joined the agency in 2005 as Director of Human Resources and has led efforts to improve the strategic human capital management of the agency. Previously, Mr. Risinger served as Deputy Associate Director at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.

Chairman Cox said, "I am delighted that Jeff has agreed to take on this important role. His experience in human resource management, workforce planning, performance management, and government affairs will be exceptionally valuable to the Commission in this new capacity."

Mr. Risinger holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Mr. Risinger also holds a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management from Louisiana Tech University. He is also a graduate of the Strategic Human Resource Management Program at Harvard Business School.
