Staff at the City of Albuquerque's Vehicle Pollution Management Division work to protect the environment of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County and the health of citizens by developing and implementing programs that effectively reduce motor vehicle emissions.

The main program components are Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance (emission testing), Oxygenated Fuels, and a Smoking Vehicle complaint line. We realize that we must be proactive in our approach and seek strong working relationships with industry and other local, state and federal agencies to better serve the public and protect public health.

We strive to design local programs that are effective for our citizens and our environment. We are uniquely qualified to address this challenge because of our versatility, technical expertise, and broad knowledge of environmental health. We are dedicated to providing the best service possible to the citizens we serve and the environment they live in. We pledge our time, energy and talents to this vision of a healthful environment.

The Vehicle Pollution Management Division operates the headquarters for the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Vehicle Pollution Management Program. The facility is located at 1500 Broadway NE and houses a fuel lab and two large test bays that are used for training Air Care inspectors and for conducting free retests and referee tests of vehicles that have failed an emission test at any of the more that 120 certified Air Care stations located throughout the Albuquerque metropolitan area.
