Fryzel Meets With the Illinois State Regulator

September 4, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel met today with Illinois Division of Financial Institutions (DFI) Director Robert E. Meza in Chicago. Ill.

“State regulators and NCUA share the same goal of fostering an environment that promotes safe, sound and forward-looking credit unions,” Chairman Michael Fryzel told the Illinois state regulator. “My background in the Illinois regulatory system has afforded me a perspective that recognizes the commonalities in federal and state approaches, and I am pleased to discuss a wide-variety of issues of mutual concern during this meeting with Director Meza. I look forward to exploring new ways to enhance dialogue between the state and federal systems.”
The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 88 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
