Peace Corps Week Fair
This event is a celebration and exploration of world cultures. More than 100 RPCVs will share their experiences with the southern Arizona community.

Sunday, February 24
Global Service Sunday
Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of the Los Angeles area will exhibit displays of their Peace Corps service and share what life is like in their host countries during their annual Global Service Sunday Peace Corps celebration. Exhibits include a range of items from various countries of service, music, maps, written information, and demonstrations of simple crafts, cooking, and local songs. Children will receive "passports" at the outset and collect "visa stamps" from the exhibitors. Open to public.

Returned Peace Corps Volunteers will be featured speakers each day at the Office of International Programs on the CSU campus.

Televised Peace Corps Line 9
To mark Peace Corps Week, five members from the Denver Regional Office have been invited to television station Channel 9 in Denver for a two-hour phone-in program to speak on volunteer opportunities with the Peace Corps. A Peace Corps recruiter will be interviewed during the live broadcast. The public is encouraged to call into the station and ask questions about volunteering or about the Peace Corps.

Wednesday, February 27, 5:30-8pm
Celebrate the Peace Corps’ 47th anniversary with Colorado’s First Lady Jeannie Ritter
Mrs. Ritter, a former Peace Corps Volunteer, will speak on the role of the Peace Corps among students, mental health issues and her health work overseas. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session as well as the opportunity for students and community members to speak with Mrs. Ritter.

Thursday, February 28, 9am
Colorado’s House and Senate will recognize the Peace Corps in a joint resolution issued at the State Capitol recognizing the Peace Corps on its 47th anniversary. Members of House and Senate will read the joint resolution before both chambers and will acknowledge about 50 individual local returned Volunteers for their dedication to the Peace Corps during the ceremonies.

The Environmental Protection Agency RPCV group will host Peace Corps information tables in the lobby of the downtown Atlanta Federal Center. Seven returned Volunteers will talk about the Peace Corps and their service during Peace Corps Week.

The Peace Corps Amateur Radio Club, KA9NLX, in Arlington Heights will operate a live Peace Corps Week special event on "ham" radio to honor the service and sacrifice of volunteers and talk about the Peace Corps with ham radio operators throughout the country. KA9NLX will be active from 10AM to 4PM Eastern Time on the following frequencies 21.360, 14.290, 10.125, and 7.270.

Join three returned Peace Corps volunteers who served in Costa Rica, Kenya, and Turkmenistan for a third goal celebration as they host a radio show in honor of the Peace Corps on KFAI radio 90.3 MHz in Minneapolis, 106.7 MHz in St Paul, and online. Hear great music from Peace Corps host countries and stories of culture and life from around the globe.

Celebrate Peace Corps Week at the University of Mississippi
Strategies for Sustainable Development Discussion: two returned Volunteers will celebrate the Peace Corps' 47 year commitment to promoting small-scale sustainable development projects in over 70 countries around the globe. A Cameroon RPCV will share insights from her service and the health clinic she established which continues to serve the local community. She will be joined by a Paraguay RPCV who will speak about small scale projects in his host country.

Join the University of Wisconsin - Madison Peace Corps Campus Representative and Regional Recruiter from Minneapolis, as they send off soon-to-be-departing Volunteers and celebrate Peace Corps Week 2008! This is a time to meet others departing for service, to connect families of Volunteers, to learn more about Peace Corps, and to talk with many Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Meet and greet Returned Volunteers who worked in various programs, and served in regions all around the world. There will be a selection of dishes from around the world as well as various speakers, slide shows, and a question and answer panel. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
