The U.S. Courts Library system for the Sixth Circuit is made up of the Cincinnati headquarters library and branch satellite libraries in Chattanooga, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Louisville, Memphis, Nashville and Toledo. Our primary mission is to provide legal research support services to all federal courts within the geographic boundaries of the four states comprising the Sixth Circuit. The federal courts we serve are the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, District Courts, and Bankruptcy Courts.

The Cincinnati library is a member of the Federal Depository Library Program and is responsible for assuring that the public has free access to the government documents provided by the FDLP. The Cincinnati library is located in Room 317 of the Potter Stewart U.S. Courthouse at 100 E. Fifth Street. You may reach the library staff by calling (513) 564-7321. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The library is closed for federal holidays as well as other days designated by the court.

Although our primary responsibility is to support the research activities and information needs of the judges and personnel of all of the courts of the Sixth Circuit, we have compiled this website to assist you in your research.
