INTRODUCTION |
The
Optoelectronics Division, in some cases in collaboration with the Precision
Engineering Division, provides a variety of Standard Reference Materials
(SRMs) for the optoelectronics industry. An SRM is a material or artifact
that has had one or more of its physical- or chemical-property values
certified by technically valid procedures and is accompanied by a certificate
issued by NIST. Examples of SRMs currently available are shown in the
accompanying photograph. Please select one of the categories to your
left for more information on these and other SRMs under development,
as well as alternative measurement services and artifacts that are available
in some cases. The primary documentation associated with an SRM is its certificate. This provides customers with sufficient information to know whether the SRM will meet their calibration and/or traceability needs, to understand its proper use along with storage and aging considerations, and to understand the basis for the statement of certified values and associated uncertainties. The documentation also provides a thorough technical basis for the SRM or provides references to where that information is available. |
