Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Administration – College of Health and Human Development, The Pennsylvania State University

The Department of Health Policy and Administration (HPA) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor. We seek a colleague with expertise in health systems improvement with an emphasis on micro or macro issues involving management, organization, policy, regulation, incentives, and information that are critical for improving health care quality and value.

Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Administration

The Department of Health Policy and Administration (HPA) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor. We seek a colleague with expertise in health systems improvement with an emphasis on micro or macro issues involving management, organization, policy, regulation, incentives, and information that are critical for improving health care quality and value. Applicants whose experience includes working with health plans, employers, health care organizations, public payers, or communities in reducing costs or improving outcomes, efficiency, and effectiveness are highly desired. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in health services research or an appropriate discipline with a focus on the theoretical and practical links between health care value and incentives, information, organization and management, policy, regulation, and reimbursement. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to conduct health services research in a multi-disciplinary setting and show potential for securing funding and establishing professional prominence in this area. Successful applicants will join a multidisciplinary faculty and will be expected to conduct research, teach, and advise students in Doctoral, Master’s and/or Bachelor’s degree programs. A candidate must have completed all the requirements for the Doctoral degree when employed.

The Department of Health Policy and Administration (http://www.hhdev.psu.edu/hpa/ Exit Disclaimer) is an academic unit of the College of Health and Human Development and offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Master of Health Administration (M.H.A.), Master of Science (M.S.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. Currently there are approximately 250 undergraduate students, 30 MHA students, 5 M.S., and 20 Ph.D. students enrolled in the department. The department has 13 tenure-track faculty and about $7 million in active research projects. HPA faculty collaborate with other Penn State faculty in the Center for Health Care and Policy Research, College of Medicine, Social Science Research Institute, Population Research Institute, Children, Youth, and Families Consortium, Gerontology Center, Methodology Center, and Prevention Center--a vibrant environment for collaborative approaches to improving health and health care.

The Pennsylvania State University is a land grant institution. University Park, its largest campus, has an enrollment of nearly 40,000 students and offers more than 100 programs of graduate study. The surrounding community of State College is well known for its excellent schools and high quality of life.
