Medical Director

The Medical Director provides overall leadership for medical practice, quality improvement and continuing education at UHS, and serves in a lead consultative role for the campus on medical issues affecting students, faculty and staff. The position provides programmatic supervision of the Urgent Care, Primary Care, Occupational Health, and Specialty Clinics, Psychiatry Services, and Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Medicine Program, and medical consultation for social services, clinical nutrition and patient education.
The position serves in an important leadership and management position within UHS participating in development of the overall strategic plan and key decisions for the organization, liaises with the regional medical community, facilitates access to high quality consultative specialty services for the UHS patient population, and provides leadership for the continuing medical education program.
Requirements:
- Board Certification and possession of all legal requirements for the practice of medicine in the state of California as determined by the California Medical Board
- Highly advanced knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the practice of medicine and management of diverse clinical units
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of physician and management duties at this level, including the ability to establish goals and objectives and manage a medical department
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with contacts of significance
- Ability to manage human and fiscal resources
- Computer proficiency and knowledge of electronic medical records systems

Employment is contingent upon the following: successful completion of a Criminal Background Check; completion of acceptable physical exam; successful completion of infectious disease surveillance; acceptable proof of current vaccination history (tuberculosis and rubella, rubeola and varicella immunity) 10 business days prior to first day of work.
