New State Veterans Cemeteries

Anderson, South Carolina

M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, South Carolina's first state veterans' cemetery began operations on Dec. 14, 2007. The official dedication of the cemetery is scheduled for spring of 2008. M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery is located in Anderson, South Carolina, adjacent to the Richard Campbell State Veterans Nursing Home on the Belton Highway. The construction of this cemetery was a result of collaboration between the State of South Carolina and the Department of Veterans Affair's State Cemetery Grants Program, which funded this cemetery 100 percent.

Glennville, Georgia

Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, opened December 2007. The Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville is situated on a 42.6 acre site just north of the town center of Glennville in Tattnall County, Georgia. It is located along US Highway 301, about 25 miles west of the main post of Fort Stewart. The cemetery will serve more than 28,000 veterans and their dependents that are not served by a national cemetery. The construction of this cemetery was a result of collaboration between the State of Georgia and the Department of Veterans Affair's State Cemetery Grants Program, which funded this cemetery 100 percent.

Keithville, Louisiana

Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery opened for operations in July of 2007. The cemetery was dedicated in September of 2007. Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery is the first state cemetery in the state of Louisiana. The cemetery will serve more than 55,000 veterans and their dependents that are not served by a national cemetery. The construction of this cemetery was a result of collaboration between the State of Georgia and the Department of Veterans Affair's State Cemetery Grants Program, which funded this cemetery 100 percent.
