Commonwealth of Pennsylvania DOH - Public Health Physician (Chief Medical Officer)

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is seeking a Public Health Physician to serve as the Chief Medical Officer for the Office of Public Health Preparedness. Serve as medical advisor to the Director of Public Health Preparedness on all matters concerning Health and Health care. Work with the Director of Public Health Preparedness to prepare and implement policies, plans and programs to protect the health of the Commonwealth against threats of bioterrorism and other public health and medical consequences of disasters and emergencies.

Public Health Physician (Chief Medical Officer)

Salary Range is $84,597 - $124,695, with an Excellent Benefits Package

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is seeking a Public Health Physician to serve as the Chief Medical Officer for the Office of Public Health Preparedness.

Serve as medical advisor to the Director of Public Health Preparedness on all matters concerning Health and Health care. Work with the Director of Public Health Preparedness to prepare and implement policies, plans and programs to protect the health of the Commonwealth against threats of bioterrorism and other public health and medical consequences of disasters and emergencies

Prepare or review Department policy in particular areas of health or health care. For example, this can be in areas where there is public concern or controversy in new and emerging fields of medical science or where there is a need for change to the medical services related to public health preparedness and response

Coordinate educational, informational and other programs for the promotion of all hazards preparedness, public health, provider safety, and related medical issues in the Commonwealth and serve as the primary advocate for these programs

Consult with experts in the Commonwealth and other states concerning medical research, innovation and development, which relate to programs and issues of importance to the Department and the Commonwealth relevant to public health preparedness and response

Eligibility Requirements:

Graduation with a degree of doctor of medicine or osteopathy from a medical school approved or recognized by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine, or the Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine, and completion of an approved U.S. residency training program; and two years of professional medical experience, including one year in a public health setting.  

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the Pennsylvania Medical Licensing Board or the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Licensing Board.
