Brief Description: Brookville is a small city with a population of just over 5,000. We realize that if a disaster hits our area not only will our resources be limited but we will probably be isolated for a period of time. Volunteerism is very strong in our community, so we were not surprized when 27 people signed up for our first class. They have recently graduated and we anticipate 2 to 3 more classes by the end of 2004.

Brief Description: The Homeland Emergency Learning and Preparedness Center, located at the Department of Emergency Medicine serves an eight county area of west central Ohio. The HELP center is committed to CERT team development with special emphasis on inner city and rural teams. Brief Description: The Scioto County CERT program, as of March 2006 has 240 citizens trained in CERT with supplemental training being planned in August of 2006. At this time, organized teams are being formed. Three area team leaders have been identified as well as two within the city of Portsmouth. Brief Description: The Lucas County CERT program has conducted eleven courses since the end of September 2003 where a total of 264 individuals have completed CERT training. With three more months to go in this years training schedule we expect to reach our goal for 2004 of 332 registered CERT volunteers. Interested citizens may register by call Owens State Community College's Department of Workplace and Community Services where the majority of our classes are held each month. Every CERT course graduate who lives or works in the county may register and receive an official CERT ID and Disaster Response Kit. Lucas County CERT promotional materials have been developed for local distribution with the help of the Lucas County Citizen Corps Council, the Toledo Area United Way's Volunteer Center and support from the local Wal-Mart and Lowes Home Improvement Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Brief Description: Our program to date has trained 80 people with 50 of those signing up as county volunteers as well as belonging to the CERT team. Our CERT team participated in our county's recent Mock Disaster Exercise. They were very successful. Our CERT was also activated during our recent county flooding, and a drwoning here. We are very active and have exceptional participation.

Brief Description: Logan County has a relatively new CERT program this year. We have 6 instructors and 8 trained CERT members forming one team. Two of our members have traveled to Florida to help out with recovery from Hurricanes Charley, Frances, and Ivan. Our next class is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, October 25, 26, 27, & 28 from 6 to 10 PM and Saturday October 30th from 8 AM to 2 PM. Brief Description: In 2003 Madison County CERT instructors offered six trainings to county residents. Over 100 people were trained, and 35 went on to register as volunteers with Madison County Emergency Management Agency. Volunteers were utilized in non-emergency projects such as manning a display and distributing literature at the annual Fire Expo as well as a local holiday event. In 2004 we plan to offer 10 CERT trainings and train over 200 citizens. We have several non-emergency activities planned throughout the year including an exercise to be conducted mid-spring to practice using the skills learned in class. The training is approximately 16 hours and consists of the following 8 modules: Module 1: Disaster Preparedness Module 2: Medical Operations I Module 3: Medical Operations II Module 4: Disaster Psychology Module 5: Terrorism Module 6: Light Search and Rescue Module 7: Fire Suppression Module 8: Team Organization/Volunteer Opportunities We currently have 10 CERT instructors from various disciplines. Brief Description: The Lakewood CERT program was initiated in 2005. It currently has over 30 certified members as well as additional members in training. Lakewood CERT volunteers attend regularly scheduled continuing education training and participate in disaster exercises and promote the program at neighborhood gatherings, and community events each year. They were commended for their assistance with a public safety emergency in 2007, during which they provided evacuation and shelter assistance to residents.

Brief Description: Fairfield county is an established C.E.R.T. since 2006. Brief Description: The Hamilton County CERT Program is based on a partnership between Hamilton County EMA, Cincinnati Fire Department and its pre-existing CERT Team, American Red Cross, Scarlet Oaks Vocational School and local jurisdictional fire departments. Program goals include providing basic, all-hazards preparedness instructions for citizens to be better prepared to protect themselves, their families, their neighbors and serve their local jurisdiction should they be requested. Many local jurisdictional fire departments are utilizing this program to promote disaster preparedness within their community and build trained citizen teams to assist them performing their duties.

Brief Description: Hardin County started their CERT program in 2003 with the Kenton High School ROTC students. The second class involved Ohio Northern University and several of their people along with being open to community members. We have a third class planned for June of 2004. We are hoping to expand our program in 2005.

Brief Description: Banding together as a team in June of 2003, the four communities began the cooperative effort to create the QUAD CITY CERT. Under the direction of the Executive Board, committees developed procedures for training, team activation, transportation, communication, and mass inoculation. The team created a website, an on-line database; and By-Laws. It was awarded two FEMA grants which were used to purchase necessary equipment including a fire training unit, a trailer, CERT disaster kits, and other emergency related supplies. A mass inoculation drill was held in April, 2005 with 120 workers getting 300 volunteer victims through the system. The Quad City CERT includes 11 certified instructors; 280 trained members; and over 500 reserve volunteers. Training is on-going and new volunteers are always welcome!

Brief Description: Emergency Support Services was formed in 1998 as the first CERT team in Ohio with volunteers to help our community in the event of a disaster. Brief Description: Following a disaster, community members may be on their own for a period of time because of the size of the area affected, lost communications, and impassable roads. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program supports local response capability by training volunteers to organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers at the disaster site, to provide immediate assistance to victims, and to collect disaster intelligence to support responders' efforts when they arrive. Springfield Township holds atleast 1 CERT team Disaster Drill every year and members are encouraged to attend. Brief Description: The Lucas County CERT program has trained over 500 volunteers in northwest Ohio since 2003 under an agreement with Owens Commnuity College. There are 473 CERT volunteers registered within Lucas County. Many CERT volunteers attend continuing education training, participate in functional and full-scale disaster exercises and promote volunteer programs at fairs and festivals each year. Many local CERT members volunteered to assist victims of recent flooding in Lucas County and provide support to hurricane stricken regions along the Gulf Coast. Teen CERT training has been conducted in two school districts adding 89 youth volunteers to our program. In addition, over 140 Boy Scouts and Scout Leaders participated in a special weekend CERT training program. Our goal in 2007 is to continue to offer training for new volunteers while training and sustaining our existing volunteer base.
