July 23, 2008

Dolly made landfall today on Texas' South Padre Island about 1 p.m. local time as a Category 2 storm, packing sustained winds of 161 kilometers (100 miles) per hour. Wind speeds are depicted in color, with the highest winds, around the eye, shown in purple. Wind direction is indicated by the small barbs, with white barbs pointing to areas of heavy rain.
