Three Candles for QuikScatNASA's ocean-wind tracking Quick Scatterometer, built in a record-breaking 11 months, celebrates its third anniversary this week. "The satellite is in good health and acquiring high-quality wind speed and direction data," says JPL deputy project manager Kent Kellogg. Used for weather forecasting and long-term climate studies, QuikScat's measurements also provide an early look at developing hurricanes.
