As a result of changes in the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Meal Policy, the Laboratory will no longer be able to provide funding for service anniversary and retirement recognition events, effective October 1, 2008.
However, because anniversaries and retirements taking place in September may be hard to celebrate within the fiscal year, September anniversaries and retirements are eligible to be funded for refreshments through October 17, 2008.
Funding until October 17:
The funds cannot be advanced before a recognition event and instead will be reimbursed against receipts after the fact. To qualify for the temporary funding provision, employees should go ahead and purchase their allowable refreshments for the celebration (i.e., no supplies, alcohol, flowers, cards, or gifts), save all receipts, and then submit a Service Award or Retirement Party Funding Reimbursement Request - Form 1762 (pdf), as follows:
The submitted Form 1762 will be reviewed by the Service Awards Coordinator and, if approved, forwarded to CFO-1 for payment.
LANL service credit, except for work on casual status, is taken into account when determining eligibility for service awards recognition.
Employees will be notified of their award via e-mail on their anniversary date. At that time, the employee will be directed to the MC Fina web site to make a gift selection. Employees who feel they should have celebrated a service anniversary but who did not receive a notification need to email serviceawards@lanl.gov to initiate research into the correct service date.
Recognition and service gifts are based on years of service according to the following graduated schedule:

Shortly after the retirement date, each retiree will be mailed a $100 gift card for the Nambe Shop in Pojoaque.
