NTSB TO OPEN DOCKET OF SOUTHWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT 1455 RUNWAY OVERRUN IN BURBANK, CALIFORNIA

Washington, D.C. -- As part of its ongoing investigation into the March 5, 2000 runway overrun at the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport in Burbank, California, the National Transportation Safety Board will open a public docket on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 and make available factual information concerning the investigation.

The airplane overran the end of the runway, traveled through a fence and came to rest on a highway outside the airport perimeter. There were no fatalities to the 137 passengers and 5 crewmembers aboard.

The information released is factual in nature and does not provide any analysis. Available in the docket will be the factual reports from the human performance, survival factors, operations, meteorology and airworthiness groups. Additional factual information will be added to the public docket as it becomes available.

The docket will be made available on CD-ROM in the Board’s Office of Public Affairs, 490 L’Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC, Tuesday, July 10, 2001, 10:00 a.m.
