Dear National Service Colleagues,
As you have probably experienced, the Corporation is currently having problems keeping eGrants and the My AmeriCorps Portal up and running. It is a difficult time to experience this systems breakdown – workload is high and we have many collective critical needs to be met. Ironically, this is at least partly the result of the significant changes we’ve been making to improve our productivity and customer service. I apologize that this is causing work delays and frustration for our grantees, subgrantees, projects, members and participants, as well as our employees.
Please know that fixing these problems is my highest priority, and is the 24-hours-a-day mission of a strong team led by our CFO Jerry Bridges. As a short term fix, this week the Corporation will be alternating system availability to improve the functionality of each system. In addition, we are extending deadlines for some grantee reporting, providing alternative submission systems for others and have back-up systems in place for key functions. In particular, please note:
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards – We know that this is a critical time for alumni who are using their AmeriCorps Education Award. As we work to fix the My AmeriCorps Portal, we are also reinstating the paper voucher request process. Members can obtain the necessary forms and instructions by calling the AmeriCorps Hotline: 800-942-2677.
- AmeriCorps Recruitment System – The My AmeriCorps portal will be available for use the rest of this evening (Wed) and Friday. It will not be available to users from 6:00am EST Thursday January 31 until 6:00am EST Friday February 1. If you experience difficulties today or Friday, please contact the eGrants help desk: 888-677-7849.
- eGrants – Programmatic screens in eGrants will be available for the remainder of the week. The financial information necessary to complete FSRs will only be available on Thursday. As a result, FSR extensions have been made for Learn and Serve and Senior Corps. Commissions will still need to submit FSRs and should follow the protocol that they have received from the program.
I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress.
