Secretary Bodman to Address International Nuclear Safeguards Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – U.S. Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman will deliver remarks at the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) International Meeting on Next Generation Safeguards on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C.  Secretary Bodman will highlight the U.S. Department of Energy's efforts to help ensure the safe, secure and peaceful implementation of civil nuclear energy programs around the world.

Conference participants, including representatives from 14 foreign governments and the IAEA, will examine challenges to the nuclear safeguards systems and begin to outline an agenda for cooperation to meet anticipated safeguards needs.
