• Hybrid electric - e.g., the Toyota Prius and the hybrid version of the Honda Civic
• Battery electric vehicles that produce zero tailpipe emissions
• Natural gas vehicles
• Propane vehicles

Incentives
    Vehicle Incentives
County Program Manager Fund Public agencies can apply for incentives for alternative fuel light-duty (10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight or less) vehicles through the Air District's Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) County Program Manager Fund. These funds are allocated by each of the nine Bay Area county Congestion Management Agencies.

Zero Emission Vehicle Incentive Program The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has adopted a Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate that requires automakers to produce ultra-clean, advanced technology vehicles. CARB offers incentives for certain types of battery electric vehicles via its Zero-emission vehicle Incentive Program (ZIP). The CARB ZIP incentives are available for both public and private entities.

High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane use Owners of electric vehicles and natural gas vehicles can apply for a special Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) sticker that allows solo drivers to use HOV lanes. Note: Hybrid electric vehicles do not qualify for the HOV lane sticker.
