AESDirect/AESPcLink Print

Effective July 1, 2002, the U.S. Customs Service will accept the paper copy of the SED printed from AESDirect or AESPcLink for shipments filed in AES requiring a State Department License or Exemption. Currently, one copy of the SED is still required to be shown to Customs when filing United States Munitions List (USML) items in AES. This one copy is for the State Department and should not be turned in to the carrier along with other commercial documentation or manifests.

The AESDirect/AESPcLink copy of the SED must contain the XTN and ITN number before submitting the form to U.S. Customs. AESDirect will apply these numbers automatically to the form. AESPcLink, at this time does not.

The copy of the SED printed from AESDirect or AESPcLink must conform strictly to the respective official form in size (8 1/2 by 11),color(buff or golden rod, quality (weight of paper stock not less than 16 nor more than 20 pounds commercial substance) as stated in 15CFR30.3(b). All paper SEDs not conforming to 15CFR30.3(b) will be rejected and cargo detained for appropriate documentation.

To print the SED from AESDirect:

1. Create and submit the shipment as usual.
2. Retrieve the shipment.
3. Click on "Print SED," making sure that you have loaded your printer with the proper paper as stated above.

To print the SED from AESPcLink:

1. Create the shipment as usual.
2. Before sending the shipment to AESDirect, click on "Print SED" in the lower right-hand corner of the shipment screen, making sure that you have loaded your printer with the proper paper as stated above.
