Determining Net Requirements of Pacific Northwest Utility Customers

BPA is accepting comments on its proposed modifications to its current policy on Determining Net Requirements of Pacific Northwest Utility Customers under Sections 5(b)(1) and 9(c) of the Northwest Power Act. These sections of the Act describe how BPA determines customers’ net requirements, the amount of customer firm retail load that BPA is obligated under statute to serve. These modifications are designed to support implementation of the Long-Term Regional Dialogue Policy.

Walker Mountain communications project

BPA proposes to construct a new communications building and microwave tower at Walker Mountain located near Chemult, Ore. The building and tower are part of a larger BPA project to replace outdated communications equipment with more reliable technology.

BPA proposes that the Forest Service amend the site plan to allow the construction of a new 140-foot tower and 600 square-foot building to allow BPA to maintain and operate the power transmission system safely and reliably. Both the new tower and building would be located in the designated communication area known as “Zone B,” away from historic resources. The new tower would be sited slightly below the mountain top to avoid interference from/with existing users.

For more information about this proposed project, call BPA toll free at (800) 622-4519.
