Advisory Group Members
Synopsis of History:
The AQMD Governing Board established an Ethnic Community Advisory Council on
September 7, 1990 to serve as an advisory body to the Governing Board with
specialized expertise on the impact of air quality issues on the ethnic
communities in the South Coast Air Basin. Advisory Group Mission:
The Ethnic Community Advisory Group (ECAG) reports to the Governing Board
through the Administrative Committee and has the following duties:
- Assist AQMD in identifying opportunities and evaluating strategies for
providing compliance assistance to ethnic businesses.
- Assist AQMD in evaluating existing ethnic community outreach efforts and
in identifying opportunities and strategies for increasing ethnic community
participation in air quality management.
- Assist AQMD in increasing ethnic community participation in AQMD
contracting and procurement program.
- Assist AQMD in designing public education and outreach programs for ethnic
community members.
Membership:
ECAG is comprised of representatives from the African American, Latino, Asian
Pacific Islander and Native American communities within the AQMD’s four-county
jurisdiction. Members
serve two-year terms and are appointed by AQMD’s Governing Board. Vacancies may
exist at any given time. Letters of Interest to fill existing or upcoming
vacancies, may be submitted
through AQMD’s Office of Public Advisor.
