An EOS Interdisciplinary Science Principal Investigator, Jonathan Foley, Institute for Environmental Studies/Center for Climatic Research, University of Wisconsin, Madison, was recently awarded a Presidential Early Career Award "for his leadership and innovation in modeling the global biosphereyielding the first of a next generation of Earth system models that dynamically link biological and ecological, hydrological, and climatological processes in ways that are fully interactive." The award includes a $100 K/yr grant to be awarded over the next five years. The Earth Observer and the EOS community wishes to congratulate Prof. Foley on this outstanding achievement.
