Title: Solar Lighting for Remote Rural Communities
The Cooper Union and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) students are developing a rechargeable lantern that can be used in remote communities around the world. The lantern must be easily repairable, inexpensive, have little environmental impact, and incorporate local materials into its design. The project includes direct interactions and input from communities throughout Northern Ghana, an area for which the lantern is initially intended.
