Tennessee has long played an important role in America’s energy and national security.  Home to the Department of Energy’s expansive Oak Ridge research and development complex, today research is being done to help increase the availability of clean, abundant energy in an environmentally responsible way, while the Y-12 Plant works on nuclear deterrence and the safe storage of nuclear materials.
