Montana is actively working to increase its use of renewable energy, particularly hydroelectric power, which now comprises over 25% of the state’s total electric generation.  In addition, to help in lower the amount of greenhouse gasses emitted by the coal industry, Montana State University is leading a regional partnerships researching carbon sequestration.
