Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

The Ohio State University College of Public Health is seeking an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the College’s academic programs and will represent the College nationally in public health education. Responsibilities include: 1) oversight of curriculum development throughout the college, working in close collaboration with the Graduate Studies Committee, 2) guidance and support to division chairs and faculty on academic matters; 3) leadership regarding the development of new programs, such as the proposed undergraduate public health major and distance learning programs, and 4) responsibility for offices and staff that support the academic programs, including the college’s office of student affairs. The successful candidate should have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with capabilities for promoting collegiality and building consensus. Familiarity with CEPH accreditation processes is desirable. Administrative duties will constitute approximately 40% of the Associate Dean’s time. The Associate Dean should be qualified to be a tenured associate or full professor in one of the disciplines of public health or a related field, and have strong evidence of academic leadership, graduate teaching experience, scholarly productivity and success in obtaining extramural research funding.
The College offers multiple graduate degree programs and has a continuously growing enrollment with approximately 315 graduate students at this time. An undergraduate public health minor was initiated this academic year and an undergraduate major is anticipated. Consideration of applications will continue until the position is filled.
