Partnerships '97 explored dynamic developments in the field of consumer health informatics (CHI) and laid a foundation for critical assessments of CHI applications. In 1997, the conference was held in conjunction with HII97: The Emerging Health Information Infrastructure, the leading conference examining key policy issues on implementing an information infrastructure supporting healthcare applications. On Tuesday, April 15, joint sessions focused on developments in consumer health information and telecommunications and their impact on health and health care.

Even though the conference is over, you can virtually meet consumer health informatics industry leaders and upstarts, public officials and staff from the new Administration and Congress, executives from managed care and business, representatives of community and nonprofit organizations, health professionals, and private individuals and patients. All have a stake in promoting quality, effective, and accessible networked information for wise health consumerism.
