The disposition of the papers and photographs of Wilbur and Orville Wright was left unclear after Orville's death on January 30, 1948.

Library of Congress
In May of 1949, Library of Congress representatives examined the Wright brothers' material and removed 303 glass-plate negatives of photographs documenting the Brothers' aeronautical achievements. All of these glass-plate photographs have been digitized by the Library of Congress and are available on this site.

The Frank Coffyn Collection
The Frank Coffyn Collection is part of the Research Library collection at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum in Glenville, New York. It is actually the contents of a scrapbook kept by Coffyn of his early days as an aviator. When it was discovered, most of the images had come away from their original paste mounts and were in no recognizable order. These images have been sorted and categorized in this Collection; the effort to identify these images is currently underway.

Wright State University
On December 19, 1975, Wright State University was awarded the remaining printed, holographic, and photographic material, and other memorabilia that was not selected by the Library of Congress. This material constitutes the bulk of the Wright Brothers Collection at the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library at Wright State University. These images have been digitized by Wright State University and the OhioLINK Digital Media Center, and are searchable by date, keyword or location.   Total Collection
