This report provides comprehensive and coordinated vision health strategies and activities that have been organized around assessment, application, and action principles.

OMHRC’s Project Director Jose Carneiro was invited as a panelist to address the vision needs of the U.S. population. The brought the minority health perspective to this CDC’s effort.

“The ultimate goal of this meeting was for us to come up with an official vision program,” said Dr. Carneiro. “My role was to stress and support the need for a better vision health care especially for minorities since they are prone to have much higher incidence of diabetes which often affects badly their vision.”
