Mobile's Expo 2002 Features
OSHA Compliance Assistance Presentations

MOBILE, Ala. -- Preventing worker deaths, injuries and illnesses will be the focus of EXPO 2002 to be held March 25 and 26, at the Mobile Convention Center. OSHA, a co-sponsor of the event, will provide compliance assistance during several of the scheduled workshops.

OSHA presentations during the 12th Annual Central Gulf Coast Safety and Health Seminar and Exposition include training in the new recordkeeping requirements; an overview of special emphasis programs in construction; safety planning-why every worksite needs a plan; and OSHA's role at the World Trade Center disaster site.

Among topics discussed by other safety and health experts from government, industry and academia are planning for maritime security; evaluating emergency action plans; and developing accident prevention strategies.

"The EXPO is an excellent opportunity for employers to learn from the experts how to best protect their employees," said Lana Graves, OSHA's Mobile area director. "In 2000, EXPO received the OSHA National Small Business Outreach Award and the event continues to provide attendees with safety and health strategies that work."

The keynote speaker this year is nationally recognized Judy Marston, a Mobile business consultant. Her topic is "Managing Gen X".

Registration is $125. Other co-sponsors of the event are the City of Mobile, local chapters of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the National Safety Council, and the Gulf Coast Maritime Safety Association.
