Where a two-way communication system is provided to gain admittance to a building or facility or to restricted areas within a building or facility, the system shall comply with 708. 708.1 General. Two-way communication systems shall comply with 708. 708.2 Audible and Visual Indicators. The system shall provide both audible and visual signals. 708.3 Handsets. Handset cords, if provided, shall be 29 inches (735 mm) long minimum. Model Codes & Standards IBC 2000: No requirement for two-way communication systems. IBC 2003: Section E105.7 of Appendix E has an equivalent scoping requirement for two-way communication systems, but ICC/ANSI A117.1-1998 has no technical requirement for such systems.
