"Dear Colleague" Letter on the July 21, 2000 Public Meeting
About Use of the Term "Fresh" on Food Labels

Dear Colleague:

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is holding a public meeting on July 21, 2000, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (registration from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.) to solicit input on whether the use of the term "fresh" is truthful and not misleading on foods processed with alternative technologies and on what type of criteria FDA should use when considering use of the term with future technologies. The meeting will be held at:
