Therapist officers in the Corps:
- Provide occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, or audiology services to maximize function and improve quality of life for patients with disability or disease.
- Respond to public health emergencies.
- Conduct research.
- Implement evidenced-based research into clinical practice.
- Develop national health policies.
- Coordinate education efforts on a variety of public health issues, encouraging the adoption of healthy lifestyles to prevent disability and disease.
The focus is on improving physical health for entire populations. While there is plenty of direct patient care, there are opportunities to become involved in organized community prevention and treatment programs.
