Mission

Provide legal support to the Commanding General, Deputy Commanding Generals, Chief of Staff and all staff directorates at Headquarters, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. Provide accurate, timely and practical legal advice at the Army Command level in the areas of Ethics, Environmental Law, BRAC, Contract Law, Fiscal Law, Labor Law, Military Justice policy, Soldier adverse administrative actions, Military Personnel Law, Initial Entry Training policy, Operational Law doctrine, and a myriad of complex legal issues regarding installation operations at 16 TRADOC commands and 32 schools, and NERO, Installation Management Command's (IMCOM) 28 installations; and monitors force structure/budget for delivery of efficient legal services and activities throughout the United States.

Who We Are

TRADOC Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides technical oversight and legal advice on military and administrative law issues throughout TRADOC in direct support of the TRADOC Mission. The office consists of three divisions: Executive / Administration Division, Military and Administrative Law Division, and the Civil Law Division.

The Executive / Administration Division is responsible for the management and operations of the office and consists of the Staff Judge Advocate, the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, the legal Administrator, the Chief Paralegal NCO and essential legal support staff. All requests for legal opinions or actions are tracked by this division as well as managing personnel, budgetary, security and facility operations.

The Military and Administrative Law Division is responsible for a wide range of legal areas to include Labor Law, Ethics, Environmental Law, BRAC, Military Personnel Law, adverse administrative actions, assistance with the Financial Disclosure Management (FDM) system and other legal areas.

The Civil Law Division is responsible for the legal areas of Contract and Fiscal Law.

The Northeast Region (NERO), Installation Management Command (IMCOM) attorney is co-located with the TRADOC SJA Office to support IMCOM's vast area of responsibility and consolidate legal services under the Staff Judge Advocate to facilitate and utilize the extensive legal expertise available at an ACOM legal office.

The Fort Monroe Post Judge Advocate Office provides installation level legal services such as legal assistance (Wills, Powers of Attorney, etc.), Claims processing, military justice advice for commanders and referral to an appropriate location for Trial Defense Service.
