SAMHSA's collaboration with the United for Recovery brought together motorcycle riders, people in treatment, recovering individuals, and friends and family members from all over Southern California for the First Annual California Recovery Month Ride. The ride started from multiple starting points in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties. Riders congregated and joined fellow advocates at a Recovery Rally Celebration at Fairmount Park. The ride took place on October 2nd, 2005 and had more than 250 participants. The Recovery Month effort aims to promote the societal benefits of alcohol and drug use disorder treatment, laud the contributions of treatment providers and promote the message that recovery from alcohol and drug use disorders in all its forms is possible.
