Research Interests
  • The discovery and observation of supernovae of all types with the goal of understanding the physics of their explosions, their progenitor systems and nucleosynthesis products.

  • Spectrum Synthesis of supernovae

    • 1-dimensional, non-LTE spectrum synthesis of supernovae using PHOENIX
    • 3-dimensional, LTE spectrum synthesis of supernovae using SEDONA developed by my former graduate student Dan Kasen.
  • Cosmology, specifically anything involving supernovae (Ia's, IIP's, etc.) to measure the cosmological parameters.

  • Computational Astrophysics - I'm always looking for better and faster ways to solve an interesting problem.

  • I am a member of the SciDAC Computational Astrophysics Consortium, the SN Factory, the SNAP Collaboration and the GOSH Collaboration. I am a former member of the Supernova Cosmology Project who still has quite a few things to finish up with them...
