Online Self-Help and Support Massachusetts General Hospital

Online Self-Help and Support highlights 20 particularly noteworthy nonprofit or pro-bono web sites developed by and for condition-specific online self-help communities. This showcase will demonstrate the remarkable depth and breadth of health information and interactions available on such sites and will encompass the emergence of these new online support communities as an important new type of online health resource. Also highlighted will be the emergence of the Net-empowered medical consumer who has "gone to medical school on the Internet," and the many ways these and other online resources are changing the roles and relationships of both health providers and health consumers.

Online Self-Help and Support will be at the Showcase and Games in Philadelphia, PA from May 27-28, 1998.
