2) Greater cooperation and
coordination among data centers, between data centers and data users,
and between data centers and data producers can leverage the ability of
any one data center to provide a wide spectrum of information. Within
the fusion energy community for example, networks such as the IAEA A+M
Data Center Network are a good starting paradigm for this type of effort.
Also, appropriate division of labor seems to be required. A data center
such as that at ORNL need not collect spectroscopic data when great
expertise and experience in that area exists at NIST, and can be tapped
through the appropriate links. Important to these cooperative efforts
is willingness and means to give proper attribution to data and databases.
