We will present a detailed analytical scheme to study the propagation of 

UHE charged particles (nucleons and nuclei) in astrophysical backgrounds. 

We will discuss the main observational and phenomenological features of 

such propagation, addressing in particular its connections with the observations

of the Pierre Auger Observatory
