This true-color MODIS image is centered on the North African country of Tunisia. To the west is Algeria, and to the southeast is Libya. The body of water to the north is the Mediterranean Sea, which surrounds the island of Sicily. The brownish feature in roughly the center of Tunisia is Chott Jerid, a dry salt lake that only holds water in the winter.
