The private-sector fundraising campaign led by former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton was a tremendous success, illustrating once again the incredible generosity of the American people. Estimates currently place the level of America’s private giving at over $1 billion dollars. These funds, coupled with the $950 million that President George W. Bush has requested from Congress, will go a long way towards bringing relief to that area of the world.
