Senior DOE Officials in West Virginia for Laboratory Facility Dedication

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, August 14, 2008, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Acting Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy James “Jim” A. Slutz and Assistant Secretary for Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability Kevin Kolevar will participate in the dedication of the Technology Support Facility at DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory in Morgantown, West Virginia.  West Virginia Senior Senator Robert C. Byrd will give the keynote address at the event.

The new four-story Technology Support Facility will provide critically needed office space in support of DOE’s mission to advance science and technology for a clean, secure energy future.  The new facility is also designed to obtain the U.S. EPA Energy Star Certification; buildings that earn the Energy Star are top performers for energy efficiency nationwide and use about 35% less energy than average buildings.
