28.04.2009 Influenza A(H1N1) – Alerts by WHO and DG SANCO

Following human cases of Influenza A(H1N1) notified to WHO by the US and Mexico, DG SANCO is leading the EU coordination under the framework of the Communicable disease decision 2119/98 through the Community Early Warning and Response System (EWRS), under which EU Member States are required to notify measures they propose to take, measures and guidance issued, and any confirmed cases.

27.04.2009 Good Practice Award winners 2009 announced

Eight organisations and companies were honoured with an award at the ninth annual European Good Practice competition organised within the Healthy Workplaces campaign on risk assessment. The winners and commended entries all promoted good safety and health practices in workplace risk assessment, illustrated in the Good Practice Booklet.

14.04.2009 Fieldwork starts on European survey of enterprises on new and emerging risks (ESENER)

The Agency is carrying out a European-wide establishment survey on health and safety at the workplace. Managers and health and safety representatives will be asked about how workplace risks are managed, particularly focusing on psychosocial risks.

The survey aims to assist workplaces to deal more effectively with health and safety and promote the health and well-being of employees. It will provide policy makers with cross-nationally comparable information relevant for the design and implementation of new policies in this field.
